Nor-Tech 390 Speed Test Update
Team Grander Marine got a chance to do some setup and testing this week on the Nor-Tech 390 powered by Quad Mercury Racing 400R‘s. The results look like a world speed record for offshore fishing boats!
The engines now have about 7 hours and we have been spinning stock 30″ Bravo FS’s with the diffuser rings cut down. We still need to do some work on the props and I am confident we have more room for improvement. We are currently on the rev limiters pushing these props. I am absolutely blown away by the performance and handling of this Nor-Tech 390. We have a bunch of go pro footage that I will put together in short order. At this current time I believe our tests confirm this Nor-Tech 390 to be the current World’s Fastest Offshore Fishing Boat.
Here is our trip log to date showing a top speed achieved of 94.1 mph:
Stay tuned for our latest updates on testing of this awesome Nor-Tech 390 from Team Grander Marine, located in Orange Beach, Alabama.

Conditions were light cross wind and no current, warm humid air in Fort Myers, Florida. Props were labbed 30″ Bravos and the Load was 3 guys plus 100 gallons of fuel. After the engines loosen up some and we get some chop under her We expect to see some gains. We will keep you posted. Tight Lines!!!

Here is a clip from the 2015 MBGFC Labor Day Tournament aboard a Nor-Tech 392. This is the tournament out of Orange Beach, AL. With 91 boats competing in the 48 hour tournament, 1st and second place tuna were caught aboard the only outboard boats fishing which we were aware of. Both boats were 392 Nor-Tech Super Fish. The teams were “Buying Time” (2013 392 Nor-Tech with quad 300 verados) who took first place with a massive 177 lb. YF winning 55k. And Team “Off the Grid” (2014 392 Nor-Tech with quad 300 verados) who took second place tuna with a butter ball 148 lb. YF tuna and winning 34k.
Some of the footage includes us running home into some strong head winds. When we passed by the 64 nm buoy our XM weather showed it reading 32 mph head winds and 49 mph gusts. We hope you enjoy the footage as much as we did making it!!! Tight Lines
